Diagnosis
Compared with other species of Liaobatrachus, L. macilentus has parasphenoid cultriform process suddenly narrowing from narrow and needle-like; ilium with slightly triangular acetabulum; prepollex with two phalanges, distal larger than proximal; femur slightly longer than tibiofibula.
Remarks
Originally named Yizhoubatrachus macilentus by Gao et Chen (2004). Initially considered a large frog (SVL 115mm) but reexamination showed it is a medium-sized anuran (SVL 56mm). The holotype (ZMNH M 8621) is a juvenile individual based on unfused carpals, incomplete olecranon process, unfused ischia. Additional specimens include IVPP V 12510 (adult) and IVPP V 12541 (juvenile).
