Diagnosis
Dorsal shield ovate. Cephalon subtriangular; glabella narrow and long, widening gradually forward, then converging rapidly, extending forward into a globular protuberance, in some individuals with a small spine in front of the globular protuberance; 3 pairs of glabellar furrows, S1 circular pit-like, extremely short and deep; occipital furrow straight, shallow and wide; occipital ring connected to the posterior border without the interruption of the dorsal furrows; fixigenae triangular, very wide; eyes absent. Thorax of 6 segments; axis about half the width of the pleural region; pleurae straight, segments 2 and 3 longest, shortening anteriorly and posteriorly, with flat ends and no pleural spines. Pygidium tri- angular; axis narrow, divided into 13-14 axial rings; pleural and interpleural furrows of the pleural region both extremely shallow; border narrow, sloping steeply downward-backward, outer margin slightly raised into a line-like narrow ridge.

This species is the type species of the genus Abulbaspis.
