Dorsal shield ovate. Cephalon subsemicircular; glabella broad-conical with pointed-rounded front; three pairs of glabellar furrows, S1 bifurcate at the outer end, deeper posteriorly and shallower anteriorly, delimiting a pair of subrectangular lateral lobes; S2 and S3 short and deep, nearly parallel; occipital ring long, arched medially with a median node; palpebral lobes small, at the middle of the glabella, eye ridges absent; palpebral area of fixigenae absent; anterior branches of facial sutures long, nearly perpendicular to the axis, outer ends smoothly curved forward; preglabellar field wide; posterior wings longitudinally short and wide. Thorax of 11 segments; axis narrow; pleurae wide with deep pleural furrows, outer ends gradually lengthening and increasingly recurved, forming long pleural spines. Pygidium long-lanceolate, axis short with three axial rings and a long terminal piece, extended into a postaxial ridge; pleural region with four pleural ribs, deep pleural furrows and no interpleural furrows.

This species is the type species of the genus Archikainella.
