Cephalon semicircular, genal spine of moderate length, border of moderate width; glabella long cylindrical, glabellar furrows in three pairs; preglabellar field short or well developed; occipital node small; genal ridge indistinct; palpebral lobe crescentic, extending to occipital ring medially; prothorax: 14 segments; axial rings with small axial nodes; 3rd segment macropleural, pleural spine huge, of moderate length; pleural furrow broad, extending onto the pleural spine; opisthothorax: 4 segments; 15th segment with a moderately long axial spine. Pygidium very small, unsegmented, posterior margin without median notch.

This species is the type species of the genus Olenellus.
