Diagnosis
Dorsal shield ovate. Cephalon short and wide, slightly fusiform; glabella subpentagonal, median node at the middle of the glabella; a pair of posterolateral lobes at the glabellar base, a pair of subtriangular anterior lateral lobes at the anterolateral corners of the glabella; occipital ring transversely narrow; cheeks densely ornamented with reticulate ridges and small shallow pits; genal ridges distinct, slightly inclined backward, converging to a point at both ends; anterior border narrow and convex; a pair of genal spines extending obliquely backward-laterally. Thorax of 6 segments, the first macropleural; axis wide, anterior lateral corners of each axial ring divided by a pair of oblique furrows into a pair of triangular anterior lateral lobes. Pygidium subtriangular; axis conical, reaching the border furrow, with 16 or more rings; pleural region with 14 or more segments, pleural and interpleural furrows both distinct, each segment raised adaxially like a node.

This species is the type species of the genus Aethedionide.
