Diagnosis

Cephalon, thorax and pygidium subequal in length. Cephalon semi-elliptical; glabella subsquare with a median node and subovate posterior lateral lobes; eyes absent; 2 oblique genal ridges present; posterior ends of facial sutures crossing the genal angles; preglabellar field short; fringe wide with irregularly arranged pits, the outer row of pits largest. Thorax of 6 segments, the first largest; anterior lateral part of each axial ring divided by a pair of oblique furrows into an isolated pair of anterior lateral lobes, posterior margin bent in an elbow shape; pleural bases raised, pleural furrows narrow and long. Pygidium subtriangular; axis narrow, with about 20 rings; pleural and interpleural furrows of the pleural region distinct.

This species is the type species of the genus Dionide.
