Diagnosis
Opisthoparian micropygous trilobite with ovate, smooth dorsal shield. Cephalon relatively wide and flat; glabella moderately convex, truncate-conical; dorsal furrows deep; three pairs of glabellar furrows, S1 long and inclined inward, S2 shorter, S3 faint; anterior border wider medially, narrowing laterally; preglabellar field rather wide; occipital furrow distinct, curved forward at both ends; occipital ring slightly arched forward medially; palpebral lobes crescent-shaped, rather large, nearly parallel to the lateral margins of the glabella; fixigenae slightly narrow; librigenae wide with medium-length genal spines. Thorax of 12 segments, axis tapering backward; pleurae slightly wider than the axis, pleural furrows wide and deep, pleural spines short and small. Pygidium elliptical to semicircular; axis divided into two rings and a rather rounded terminal piece, border narrow.
Remarks
This species is the type species of the genus Hewenia.
