Diagnosis
Dorsal shield long-ovate, surface with dense small pits or nodes. Cranidium broad-trapezoidal; glabella long, truncate-conical, with 3 pairs of short, deep lateral glabellar furrows; preglabellar field narrow and depressed or absent; anterior border rather narrow and slightly upturned; fixigenae wide in the palpebral area; palpebral lobes small; eye ridges long; librigenae narrow with short genal spines. Thorax of 12 segments; axis subequal in width to pleurae; pleural furrows wide and deep, pleural spines short, entire margin serrated. Pygidium short and transversely wide, rhomboidal; axis short, inverted-conical; border extremely narrow.
Remarks
This species is the type species of the genus Prodamesella. The first complete dorsal exoskeleton was discovered by Zuoshanling (Tang Yonggang), a fossil enthusiast from Shandong.
