Cephalon and pygidium covered with nodes of varying size. Cranidium subtriangular; glabella gently convex, sides gradually diverging forward then curving sharply inward, anterior lobe subsemicircular, with three pairs of deeply impressed glabellar furrows; occipital ring longitudinally widened; anterior border low and narrow laterally, widening directly in front of the glabella and extended into a medium-length anterior spine extending forward and slightly upward; dorsal furrows narrow and deep; fixigenae wide; palpebral lobes small, crescentic. Pygidium short and wide; axis moderately convex, tapering rapidly backward, conical, of 3 axial rings plus a terminal piece; three pleural ribs on each side; the first pleural segment much wider than those behind, extended backward-laterally and slightly upward into very large pleural spines; the elongated spines of the posterior two pairs short and serrate.

This species is the type species of the genus Lonchocheirurus.
