Diagnosis
Shangtongia sinensis Dorsal shield elliptical, moderately convex. Glabella small, truncate-conical, reaching the anterior border furrow anteriorly, glabellar furrows indistinct; dorsal furrows deep along the glabella; a pair of small lateral lobes at the posterior side of the glabella; occipital furrow narrow and shallow, occipital ring of uniform width; fixigenae narrow; eye ridges faint, palpebral lobes semicircular, eyes strongly convex; anterior border wide, preglabellar field absent; anterior branches of facial sutures cutting the anterior border then converging in a curve, forming a slender median anterior spine on the sagittal line; librigenae rather narrow with wide lateral borders and long genal spines. Thorax of 12 segments; axis narrower than pleurae; pleural furrows distinct, pleural spines short. Pygidium semi-elliptical; border wide; 6 pairs of marginal spines, all widening except pair 3 which is smallest, pair 6 broadly triangular.
Remarks
This species is the type species of the genus Shantungia.
