Cephalon semicircular. Glabella elevated, densely covered with nodes of varying size, anterior part sharply bent downward, with two lateral lobes at the base; occipital ring and cheeks with sparse nodes; eyes elevated; librigenal genal spines long, extending backward-upward and curved inward. Thorax of 11 segments; axis subequal in width to pleurae, segment 11 with an extremely long backward-upward axial spine. Pygidium semi-elliptical, surface densely covered with nodes of varying size.

This species is the type species of the genus Cyphaspis; the holotype is lost, and Viersen et al. (2016) published a neotype. The genus is commonly known as the "devil horned" or "devil's horn" trilobite.
