Diagnosis
Dorsal shield smooth, with concentric terrace lines on the border. Cephalon semicircular; in some specimens the glabellar convexity and anterior border are visible; glabellar, dorsal and occipital furrows all indistinct; palpebral lobes rather large, semicircular; anterior branches of facial sutures widening forward then smoothly curving inward, meeting at an obtuse angle; librigenae wide with rounded, spineless genal angles. Thorax of 8 segments; axis subrectangular, slightly wider than pleurae; pygidium semicircular; axis indistinct; border wide.
Remarks
Compared with the type species Zhiyia tsinghaiensis, this species has a smoother, narrower and longer cranidium and pygidium, and shallower preglabellar and occipital furrows. It is commonly known as the "slipper trilobite".
